CS2 Map Strategy Guide 2026: Every Active Duty Map — Executes, CT Setups & Defaults
I used to play every map the same way — rush a site, trade kills, hope for the best. At DMG, that stops working. Here's the actual strategy for every Active Duty map in CS2.
Mirage — The most played map in CS2. Mid control is everything. T-side default: 1 palace (lurk), 1 A ramp, 1 mid, 2 B apps. Mid player smokes window, flashes connector. A ramp player baits for palace lurk. B apps players wait for mid control — if connector is taken, B split through short. A execute: 3 A ramp (smoke CT, smoke jungle, smoke stairs) + 1 palace + 1 connector. B execute: smoke market door, smoke bench, molly van + bench, 3 B apps push, 1 short flank watch. CT setup: 2 A (1 stairs/default, 1 ticket/CT), 1 mid window, 2 B (1 bench, 1 market/van). The window player is the most important position on Mirage CT — lose window = lose mid = lose map control on both sites.
Inferno — Utility control map. Narrow corridors, smokes and mollies win rounds. T-side default: 1 second mid (lurk toward arch), 2 banana, 2 apartments. Banana control is mandatory — without it, CTs push banana for free info. A execute through apartments: smoke pit, smoke library, molly graveyard + site. B execute through banana: smoke CT, smoke coils, molly newbox + dark. CT setup: 2 A (1 pit/balcony, 1 site/library), 1 arch, 2 B (1 banana/car, 1 CT/coils). The arch player rotates fast to either site. Mollying banana at round start = standard. If CTs push banana uncontested every round, punish with a shotgun + flash in banana.
Ancient — CT-sided, tons of off-angles. T-side default: 2 mid, 2 A main, 1 B ramp. Mid control is harder on Ancient than any other map — two CT angles (donut + cave). Smoke donut, flash cave, then take mid. A execute: smoke CT, smoke temple, molly back site + default plant spot. B execute through cave: smoke CT, smoke B door, molly back site. CT setup: 2 A (1 site, 1 temple/donut), 2 mid (1 top mid, 1 cave), 1 B. Cave control is the single most important position on Ancient — lose cave = mid is exposed = A and B both vulnerable.
Anubis — Water and canals everywhere. T-side default: 2 mid (toward connector to B), 1 A main, 2 water/B. Mid-to-B canal control is the most important early fight — whoever controls canal controls rotation between sites. A execute: smoke CT, smoke heaven, molly back site + default. B execute through canal: smoke CT, smoke B back, molly pillar. CT setup: 2 A (1 site, 1 heaven), 1 mid connector, 2 B (1 canal, 1 site). Mid connector rotates faster than any other map position in CS2.
Nuke — Most CT-sided map in the pool. T default: 1 outside (toward secret), 2 lobby, 2 ramp. Yard control = outside control = game control. Outside player smokes cross, crosses to secret/mini. Lobby players clear squeaky. Ramp players clear ramp slowly with utility. A execute through hut: smoke CT, smoke heaven, molly under heaven + default. Hut door execute is the most common — smoke hut door, flash through, 3 push hut, 1 outside flank, 1 ramp hold. B execute through ramp: smoke B door, smoke B vents, molly under vents + default. Rare — ramp is a death trap. CT setup: 2 outside (1 yard, 1 secret/mini), 1 ramp, 2 A (1 heaven, 1 hut/site). Outside players NEVER give up yard — fall to garage if pressured, but hold yard.
Vertigo — Vertical map with ramps. Strange angles everywhere. T default: 1 mid, 1 ramp, 2 A ramp. Mid-to-B stairs control is crucial early. CT setup: 2 A (1 site/ramp, 1 boost/back A), 1 mid, 1 B stairs, 1 B site. Fast A execute is the preferred T strat — smoke CT, smoke elevator, flash ramp, push. Slow ramp = site player holds angle bottom ramp.
Overpass — Long rotations, water/connector paths. T default: 1 connector, 2 monster/long, 2 B short. Connector player is most important on T-side — connector control allows fast rotates to both bombsites. CT setup: 2 A (1 long, 1 site/bathroom), 1 connector, 2 B (1 short, 1 site/water). Long A control for CTs: hold monster and pit angles. Don't push toilets without a teammate.
Dust2 (if in pool) — Long A or short/cat control. T default: 1 long, 1 short, 2 mid/cat, 1 B tunnels. Long A doors smoke is round 1 every buy round on T-side. CT setup: 2 long A (1 pit/car, 1 site/goose), 1 mid (suicide doors), 2 B (1 platform, 1 car/doors).
Map veto priority: Ban your worst map, not the opponent's best. PUG teams overthink vetoes. At Faceit level 8+: ban Nuke if you don't have coordinated executes. Ban Ancient if no one knows utility lineups. Pick Mirage — everyone knows Mirage.
